Orange, black and white flags could be seen waving, as drunk fans cheered throughout the night, after the Flyers dispatched the Canadians in six games. The Flyers struggled in the first two games, to score goals. They threw lots of shots toward Price, but he seemed to have the answers. But then Philly founds its offense and reeled off four consecutive wins.
"The first two games we managed to score a mere 2 goals, while throwing 66 shots in the direction of Price, but he was always there. But in the next four games we managed to score 21 goals. Three times in the series we threw over 40 shots, only once did we go under 30 shots in a game. Our attack style offense eventually paid off.." GM Trivett
The fans had to wait the following night to find out that their division rivals Islanders would be there next opponent. The season series was even 3 games a piece, with plenty of offense by both sides.
"Our team, just feels like momentum is on our side. We finished the regular season extremely strong. If you count the playoff in our last 40 games we have won 29 of those. These boys are not lacking confindence at the moment." Mike Richards
The Flyers seem to have peeked at the right time, the Flyers breezed through Quebec. Slow start against Montreal, but then managed to steam roll by them. The Isles had some trouble with the Capitals, struggled with the Rangers, the question is, can the Isles keep the Philly's big four off the score sheet. But some critics say perenial all-star and vezina candidate Rick Dipietro could be the difference in the series. The Flyers have yet to face a game stealing goaltender in the playoff. Which could leave the Flyers frustrated
On a side note, GM Trivett said discussion with the remaining free agents is still ongoing. Knuble, Jones, Tallinder and Stajan are still without a contract for next season. `It boils down to what do we have room for and which one of those players can best fit what we need.`` GM Trivett
